Keeping Track of Blogs
Topic: Blogging Basics
I've tried several different ways to subscribe to blogs and keep up with them. First, I downloaded an RSS program, but that seemed clunky. I kept forgetting to open it to check and didn't like keeping it open all the time. Next I tried Live Bookmarks using Firefox. Also kept forgetting to check those. Now I'm trying Bloglines.

It seems to be easy to use, it's free, the button in my toolbar is unobtrusive, yet tells me when there's been an update to something I'm subscribed to. Best of all, it's Web-based, so I can log into any Internet-connected computer and check my subscriptions.

What are other people using?

I've been using bloglines for a while now and find it suits all of my needs. I can use it to populate the blogroll on my own site, it has a great mobile version for viewing on a cell phone or pocket pc, and does a really decent job as an aggregator which is what I wanted it for in the first place! When I teach professional development workshops, I tend to reccomend people start off on it.

As you can see from my post today, Steve, I'm really getting sucked in by bloglines! I did share it with a group of administrators in Texas earlier this week and am finding that my own list of subscriptions is beginning to grow pretty quickly.

I think you may have been the person who suggested showing administrators blogs on personal interests as a way to get them interested. bloglines was perfect for that!
