How Do You Measure Student Growth?
Topic: Classroom Blogging
There's a great deal of emphasis placed on standardized test scores as a measure of students growth. However, there are many other indicators of student growth that, when considered along with test scores paint a more accurate picture of what's happening at your site. What are additional sources of data we can use?

An indicator of students growth that I like to use is a sample of students writing. Everyday we journal, and I think it is very interesting looking at their very first entry to their most present entry. I teach kindegarten and they are growing everyday. It is also a way for students and parents to see their progress or growth. You can see anything from beginning initial sounds to sentence structure.
This form of "assessment" doesn't seem like a "test" to the students. They enjoy it and also like to add their individualism in their pictures.
